Romain Clavaud, Canada Business Development and Sales Manager, Fugro

Romain is a seasoned professional with 15 years of international experience across Europe, the Middle East, and more recently, Canada.

Throughout his career, he has been deeply involved in the site characterization process for offshore projects, including geophysical and geotechnical surveys. These activities are essential in assessing seabed and subsurface conditions to ensure the safe installation and construction of piled assets and linear elements such as power cables.

The ground component is especially critical for offshore wind projects, given the large field footprints and the significant cost contribution of turbine foundation systems. Romain has also gained exposure to other key aspects of site characterization, including metocean and environmental surveys, which are typically conducted prior to or alongside subsurface investigations. These elements play a vital role in the success of offshore wind developments.

In addition to his technical expertise, Romain has contributed to digital product development, driven by his passion for harnessing engineering insights from data. His goal has been to enhance decision-making efficiency and bring greater convenience to the offshore industry.

Now based in Canada, Romain is eager to apply his expertise to support the exciting opportunities emerging in Nova Scotia’s offshore sector.

Tim Fischer, Dr.-Ing., Global Senior Director – Wind, Ramboll

As Global Senior Director for Wind at Ramboll, the world’s leading independent wind consultancy, I bring over two decades of experience in offshore wind and renewable energy, along with a deep commitment to advancing sustainable solutions to climate change.

My career has been dedicated to building global wind energy capabilities, including leading Ramboll’s wind business across 35 offices in 25 countries. This role has given me unique access to market insights, data, and strategic relationships that I believe can significantly benefit MRC and its mission. I have worked extensively with suppliers, developers, and governments, and I understand the importance of fostering collaboration across sectors to unlock investment and innovation.

I have served on several boards, including Oceantic Network in the U.S., where I supported the establishment of offshore wind as a new market. The lessons learned there are directly applicable to Canada’s emerging marine renewable energy sector. I also see strong potential in linking the Canadian and U.S. markets, which will be key to Canada’s long-term success. Additionally, my role on the Steering Committee of the Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) and my close ties to GWEC offer strategic opportunities for MRC to expand its global reach and influence.

Beyond industry leadership, I have a strong foundation in education and research, having co-founded Germany’s first university institute for wind energy. I believe Canada must begin building similar educational programs to support its marine renewable energy ambitions, and I would be honored to contribute to that effort.

As a European stakeholder with a global network, I can help open doors to EU-based headquarters of key suppliers and developers, supporting MRC’s goal of attracting investment and building strategic alliances.

Robert Langford, Vice President Global Offshore Renewables, ABS

Rob has over 30 years of experience in Offshore Consulting, Engineering, Construction, Installation and Operations, combined with a deep understanding of Offshore Developments. Rob offers a full range of global perspectives and knowledge in Renewable and Traditional Energy. He has successfully led numerous offshore developments. His recent focus has been on delivering a Sustainable future in New Energy specifically Offshore Wind inclusive of Green Hydrogen and Power to X with a view to enabling carbon neutrality. His collaborative approach and leadership expertise on various Offshore Fixed and Floating projects has allowed him to add value for leading energy companies worldwide.

Rob currently leads the Global Renewables Group at ABS, based in Houston. Developing strategies and Business Plans for organic and M&A growth. ABS is focused on providing safe and sustainable solutions to support the Offshore industry.

Rob has led fixed and floating offshore projects globally providing leadership, governance, and oversight at a Project, Program and Sponsor level. Projects range from a Total Installed Cost (TIC) of $500M to $6B+. Regions range from European projects in the North Sea to West Coast Africa, APAC and the Americas.

He was engaged in the Hebron project providing support as the Manager of the Offshore Select Division at Worley and understands the Canadian local content and delivery requirements for offshore developments. ABS has developed an Offshore Wind Energy Regulatory Framework for Canada for which Rob is familiar with.

Rob brings perspectives from a Developer, EPC and Safety organizations having worked for companies such as Shell, SBM, Worley, and now ABS.

He is engaged on multiple fronts in the Renewable Energy Market and is part of numerous organizations such as Oceantic, WFO, KWEIA and is a Board Representative of the Asia Wind Energy Association (AWEA).

At a personal level, Rob has family in the Nova Scotia area, close to Halifax and visits often. This brings another level of interest and passion in growing safe, clean renewable energy for Canada.

Richard Morykot, P.Eng., Vice President of Strategic Development and Execution, Atlantic Canada Bulk Terminal (ACBT)

Richard Morykot is an accomplished Professional Engineer based in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada, with more than 30 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. He earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (Dalhousie) and has built a career working on complex infrastructure and environmental projects.

Richard started his career in consulting engineering in 1992 before joining the Nova Scotia Public Service in 2000, where he played a key management role in the remediation of the Sydney Tar Ponds and Coke Ovens sites—one of Canada's largest and most challenging environmental cleanup projects.

In 2007, he joined CBCL Limited, where he led a diverse group of engineering professionals in the Sydney office and provided strategic support to multidisciplinary technical design teams and clients across Atlantic Canada. During his 16 years at CBCL, Richard contributed to many large marine infrastructure projects that included work within the emerging offshore wind (OSW) sector.

In 2023, Richard assumed the position of Vice President of Strategic Development and Execution with the Atlantic Canada Bulk Terminal (ACBT) located in Sydney, NS. Exploration of opportunities in the OSW industry led to marshaling components at the ACBT for OSW projects in the Northeast US. This work gave Richard direct experience in the OSW industry and exposure to a wide range of industry stakeholders across North America and Europe.

Deeply dedicated to growing the renewable energy industry in Atlantic Canada, Richard looks forward to continued collaboration with Marine Renewables Canada and its members.

Aaron Mulrooney, Sales and Operations Manager Rhenus Offshore, Rhenus Logistics Canada

My Name is Aaron Mulrooney, and I am based in St John’s Newfoundland. I am the Manager Offshore Operations, Logistics and Sales with Rhenus Logistics, and am running for a position on the 2026 Marine Renewables Canada Borad of Directors. Over the last 3 while working with Rhenus Logistics I have gathered significant knowledge and experience on what it takes to be successful in the Renewable energy industry.

With experience working within onshore/Offshore wind, Tidal Energy, Hydrogen and Oil & Gas I personally feel Eastern Canada can lead the way on renewables development. We have significant potential here in Canada and I feel by utilizing our international partnerships and learning from their experience we can indeed push our renewable energy sector forward.

A Little About Me

I enjoy my work. A fast paced, pressure filled environment is where I thrive.Relationship building has allowed me over the years to successfully gather significant experience working across the Oil & Gas, Aquaculture and now, Renewable Energy sectors. I am and have been an active volunteer in my community for the last 8 years coaching kids in Minor Hockey, Baseball and Basketball. Life is interesting and exciting.

Professionally, I am an experienced Operations Manager with a passion to succeed. Using my organizational skills and logistics knowledge has provided success for our clients and my employers. Warehousing, supply chain, port operations, scheduling, planning & business development are my areas of expertise. I am proud of our team’s large project completion times and abilities to remain on budget. My attention to detail has helped reach our desired goals.

Throughout my career I have gathered experiences that have made me an effective member of each organization. Communication and collaboration are priorities in the

success of any operation. The collaborative efforts I champion, lead to a superior level of customer service, and can achieve even more success at Marine Renewables Canada.

Observation, openness to new ideas and best practices have helped me adopt new operational safety SOPs and implement across each company. Working relationships with government agencies and regulators have led to both operational and development success.

Cynthia Pyć, Principal, IBN Environmental & Geomatics

As one of the few Canadians with direct leadership experience in U.S. Atlantic offshore wind development and a career spanning major renewable and conventional energy projects across both Canada and the United States, I bring a binational perspective that I believe would strengthen MRC's board and its work to advance Canada's marine renewable sector.

My career, summarized in the attached biography, reflects a lifelong commitment to advancing responsible energy development that respects the environment, meaningfully includes Indigenous communities, and strengthens our economy. I believe that a significant commitment to renewable energy is essential to Canada's long-term prosperity and global competitiveness, and that it will enable an economy that creates opportunities for future generations, including my own sixth-generation Canadian children.

I am deeply committed to supporting MRC's mission, including fostering diversity and inclusion in all its forms - encompassing not only gender, but also age, background, culture and perspective.

Canada's marine renewable energy sector, and particularly offshore wind, is at a defining moment. The rapid progress of U.S. Atlantic projects offers a valuable preview of the challenges and opportunities ahead for Nova Scotia and other provinces. I would be honoured to contribute my experience to help MRC continue leading Canada's offshore renewable advancement.

Guy Wellard, Partner, Cox & Palmer

Guy is a partner with our business law group in the Halifax office of Cox & Palmer. He has a broad-based corporate commercial practice, focusing primarily on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities, corporate governance, franchise, commercial real estate, energy, natural resources, and environmental matters.

His practice involves a wide range of transactional work, regularly advising clients across diverse business sectors in the negotiation and structuring of business acquisitions and divestitures, corporate reorganizations, debt and equity financings, commercial leasing, and franchise, securities, and environmental law compliance.

Guy has also worked on numerous complex renewable energy and natural resource projects and has expertise in negotiating various commercial agreements for such projects, including power purchase arrangements, and engineering, procurement, construction, management, and operation contracts.

Guy earned his law degree from the University of New Brunswick in 2015, after completing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science from Saint Mary’s University. He began his career with Cox & Palmer while still a law student in 2013, and then articled with the firm from 2015-2016.

In addition to his law degree, Guy has also successfully completed the Osgoode Certificate in Canadian Securities Law and Practice and has been Chair and Vice-Chair of the CBA Nova Scotia Securities section. He is a frequent presenter on business succession planning and mergers and acquisitions.

Greg Veinott, Chief Commercial Officer, Leeway Group

Greg Veinott is an accomplished maritime professional and business leader with deep expertise in offshore vessel operations, marine logistics, and commercial strategy. As Chief Commercial Officer and co-owner of Leeway Group, Greg has helped build the group of companies into a recognized innovator in Canada’s ocean sector, providing vessels and operational support to marine science, defense, and renewable energy industries.

Under Greg’s leadership, Leeway Marine, a member of the Leeway Group of Companies, became the only Canadian company to have vessels supporting offshore wind operations in the United States, advancing Canadian expertise in this rapidly growing global market. He has overseen projects across the Arctic, South America, and the South Pacific, gaining extensive experience in complex international vessel operations and logistics.

Greg holds a Bachelor of Management from Dalhousie University, where he focused his studies on Sustainable Resources and the Environment, a foundation that continues to shape his approach to responsible growth and innovation in Canada’s ocean economy.

Throughout his career, Greg has been dedicated to advancing Canada’s position in marine and renewable energy sectors through collaboration, sustainability, and operational excellence. His leadership combines hands-on maritime experience with a strategic vision for a thriving and sustainable blue economy.

Beyond his professional work, Greg has a long history of community engagement. He has served on non-profit and community boards, including a local community radio station, and began volunteering early through Scouts Canada and student politics throughout high school and university.

When he’s not in the office, Greg enjoys travelling with his wife, restoring his late grandfather’s truck, and tackling home improvement projects.
